Fred "Uncle Freddie" Jerkins

Fred Jerkins is the older brother of mega producer Rodney Jerkins, in fact it was Fred Jerkins that inspired Rodney to get started in the first place, he also was brought up in the same house where pop music was off limits. Freddie was the first of them to get a drum machine and start playing around with producing tracks.

Freddie and his brother (Rodney) made their first album which they sold locally. It was an urban gospel album, which they would later continue to do with some of the biggest gospel acts on the scene.

He made his first professional debut on a project Rodney was working on for Gina Thompson producing the tracks Angel & Without you. What a lot of people do not realise about Freddie is that he has co-written nearly every Darkchild track. If you check the credits of all Darkchild hits his name is there. Rodney is usually the one to produce them. The tracks listed in the discography below are the tracks Freddie solely.

Some say Freddie is the brains behind the Darkchild ballads, he has done some amazing ballads for Brandy including Almost Doesnt Count & Love Wouldnt Count Me Out. He also co-wrote the track that launched Mel B of the Spice Girls solo career with Tell Me which was a huge UK hit and wrote one of the best Darkchild tracks there is out there in my opinion Lionel Richies Wasted Time. Freddit may have seemed to have kept a low profile recently as he has only been co writing with his brother but he has been working on launching his new lable Darkchild Gospel. The first release off this lable will be a teenage girl named Kelcey, Freddie wrote all of the tracks with her so look out for that soon.
